What chiropractic treatment might involve
A combination of hands-on care, movement, rehabilitation, education, and practical strategies to support your recovery and physical function ailored to your needs.
I use a range of techniques within chiropractic care. What I use — and when I use it — depends on your presentation, your goals, your preferences and how you respond to treatment.
You won't necessarily receive every technique listed here. We'll discuss what is appropriate for you as part of your assessment and ongoing care.
I'll explain my recommendations and we can discuss what feels appropriate for you.

Chiropractic Adjustments
Chiropractic adjustments are a hands-on technique used to apply a controlled force to a specific joint. They may be used to help improve joint movement and function and, where appropriate, help reduce pain and discomfort.
I'll always assess whether an adjustment is appropriate for you before using it, and I'll explain what I'm doing and why.
Joint mobilisation
Joint mobilisation involves gently moving a joint through specific ranges of movement using controlled, repeated movements.
I may use mobilisation when I want to work on joint movement without using an adjustment, or where a gentler approach is more appropriate.
The technique and level of movement will depend on the joint involved, your presentation and how comfortable you are with treatment.

Activator
The Activator is a small, handheld instrument that delivers a controlled, low-force impulse to a specific area.
I may use this technique when it is appropriate for your presentation or when you prefer an instrument-assisted approach.
As with all treatment, I'll explain what I'm doing and why, and we'll decide together whether it's appropriate for you.
Webster Technique
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic technique commonly used during pregnancy. It involves gentle, specific techniques aimed at addressing areas of pelvic and sacral function and reducing tension in the surrounding soft tissues.
I may use the Webster Technique where it is appropriate for your presentation and stage of pregnancy. As with any care, I'll first assess you and discuss the options with you so that you understand what I'm recommending and why.

Soft tissue techniques
Sometimes muscles and other soft tissues need attention alongside the joints.
I use a range of soft tissue techniques, which may include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, fascial release and active release techniques, depending on what I find during your assessment.
These techniques can be used to address areas of muscular tension or sensitivity and to support movement and function.
Movement & rehabilitation
Hands-on treatment is only one part of the picture. Where appropriate, I'll also use movement and rehabilitation to help you build confidence in how your body moves and functions.
This might include specific exercises, movement strategies, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) or selected yoga asanas where these are appropriate to your needs and goals.
The aim isn't to give everyone the same exercise programme. I'll work with you to find movements that are relevant, achievable and useful for your everyday life.

Breathwork, nervous system & lifestyle support
Your work here is broader than a particular technique.
Where appropriate, I may incorporate breathing practices, nervous-system-informed strategies and education alongside your physical care.
We will also explore factors that can influence how you feel and function, such as sleep, stress, movement, nutrition and everyday habits. My role isn't to give you a list of things you "should" be doing, but to help you understand what may be relevant to you and identify practical changes that feel realistic.
The technique is only part of the care
No single technique is right for everyone, and I don't believe in treating a technique rather than a person.
Your assessment, your goals, your preferences and how you respond to care all influence what I recommend. We'll review how things are progressing and adapt your care when needed.
My aim is to use the tools that are most appropriate for you — not simply to fit you into a particular treatment approach
